Indoor & Outdoor Sessions

I'll help pick a location, plan a concept, and choose outfits

No matter what type of session you are interested in booking — you have several options to choose from. We can plan a session in the comfort of your home, organize a fun trip to the lake, downtown or anywhere else outside. You can also opt to have your photos taken inside my studio, against a plain backdrop, or with my cozy styled sets. Once we decide on the location, I’ll help you plan out the concept, the outfits and details.

Why hire a family photographer?

everyone TAKES PHOTOS WITH THEIR PHONE. HAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL.

Why pay for a professional photographer when you can take as many photos and record as many videos as you want, with your phone, right? Not quite. While phone snaps are wonderful memoirs to mundane happy moments, they don’t include one important element - YOU. You are not in the picture, having fun with your lovely family. A professional photographer can capture your family’s legacy as a whole. It’s photos that you’ll want to print and hang all around your house.

FAQ

We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?

Of course, no need to worry about that. Most people feel a bit anxious around the camera, and that’s completely normal. We’re not used to having a professional camera pointing at us all the time.

I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve that will help you and your family loosen up, feel relaxed and completely forget about the camera. You’ll be you, and I’ll be capturing your lovely family time.

How should we dress for our family session?

Depending on your session type and theme, we’ll discuss some ideas for outfits and colors. Generally I recommend not dressing up the entire family in the same type of clothes and colors as it doesn’t really compliment the end result, your photos.

What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?

If we’re talking about the sleepy newborn type of photos, the session needs to happen up to 3 weeks after birth. There are certain tips and tricks that can help you get ready for the session, which we can discuss once your session is officially booked.

How many pictures will we receive?

This depends on the type of session you’ve booked. Usually, you’ll receive an online gallery with no less than the minimum number listed in the collection you choose when booking. These images will be fully retouched and delivered to you within 1-2 weeks max depending on when the session takes place. For instance, if it is a fall session, my turn around time is closer to the 2 week time frame due to busy season.

What if our house isn't very photogenic?

Your house is your home, that’s what makes it special and of sentimental value. Yet, if you feel more comfortable in picking an outdoor location or my studio - we can.

Do you travel outside of Minneapolis and Salina?

Yes, I sure do! While Salina is my main area of work, I am happy to discuss any photoshoots around Kansas or anywhere else in the US. All sessions happening outside of Minneapolis and Salina will have an additional travel feel added to your invoice.

Depending on the location, additional accommodation costs my may apply. All this is discussed individually before I send you any invoices.

Where is the studio located?

The studio is located in the heart of downtown Salina at 109 S. 5th Street. It is a small white and black building across the street from Carol Lee Donut's on 5th and Iron. I share this space with another local Salina photographer, Nicky Cooke Photography. The studio lot is quite small, so we ask that you park along the street or in the lot next to Carol Lee Donuts. Access to the studio is by appointment only, no walk ins allowed. We also do not have a restroom in our studio.

When should I book my senior session?

I recommend booking as early as possible, especially if you're interested in Collection III. Summer and Fall sessions book quickly, and Spring fills fast with Cap + Gown requests, on top of family sessions.

What's the difference between your three Senior Collections?

Collection I is a quick session, great for seniors who want a few standout images.

Collection II offers more time, more variety, and more images.

Collection III spans your whole senior year with seasonal sessions. It's the most booked collection for a reason!

Can I bring outfit changes or props to my senior session?

Yes! I encourage you to bring up to 3 outfits for Collections II + III. You can also bring things that represent YOU. Sports gear, instruments, letter jackets, pets, or your cap + gown and college gear in the spring.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We'll reschedule! I build flexibility into my calendar, especially for senior clients who book Collection III.

What happens if I purchased a Flash Sale or Gift Certificate and didn't use it before the expiration date?

Flash Sales and Gift Certificates not used before their expiration date cannot be redeemed after the listed expiration date. However, the balance paid CAN be applied to a new session, but you must pay the difference.
